Harlequin Hotels & Resorts’ Buccament Bay Resort strives to foster and develop real, meaningful, long lasting links with the local community in St Vincent, particularly the village of Buccament.
Since opening in April 2011, the resort has made contributions to a range of initiatives in St Vincent; however, now it is taking things up a gear with the new Community Partnership Programme, which is the work of Buccament Bay Resort’s training manager, Mel Jameson, and Harlequin Hotels & Resorts’ vice president of hotel & resort development, Garrett Ronan, and includes a number of initiatives for the Buccament area.
Recent projects include efforts to assist the local school, Buccament Bay Secondary School, which involved:
Commissioning Calvert Jones of McAllister Design, a local artist and graphic designer, to paint full wall murals to celebrate St Vincent & The Grenadines’ national treasures, such as Tobago Cays and Baleine Falls
The resort’s engineering team creating and partially stocking a student library
The resort’s engineering team making tables and seating for the student lunch area
A hand over ceremony was held at the school where Garrett Ronan and Mel Jameson addressed the crowd to officially present the fruits of the project.
Please see below for photos of Messrs Ronan and Jameson speaking at the event and Calvert Jones’ excellent work.
Last year, Buccament Bay Resort also sponsored the school’s Annual Prize Giving and Awards Ceremony and provided entertainment with Buccament Bay Secondary School for the Lions Club Christmas Luncheon.
